So, how much does window paintings cost?

NOTICE (11/21/2011): I have been receiving a few inquiries about window painting recently. I have discontinued this service and I no longer have any inventory of paint and other supplies.  However, if you do have your own paint, I will be offering this service for this season for $20/hour plus $10 booking fee, depending on time availability and location.  503-427-8269 or email for details.

Most of my clients are small business owners around Portland, Oregon metropolitan area.  For most, cash flow is a very important matter of concern, and it is perfectly normal for our clients to give much thought on the financial issues.  Is this worth paying your business's money on?  It is a valid question.  On the other hand, it is also important to take into account that you are receiving a highly individualized professional service from a local working artist, who, like you, is making a reasonable effort at making ends meet and fulfill various financial obligations.  It is too easy in this age of mass-merchandisers and outsourced factory operations abroad to quickly undervalue goods and services.  At IrisCat Designs, the rates are reasonably competitive so as not to depress the overall value of services for the entire industry in the region, reasonably affordable for small business operators and community organizations, and yet high enough to make this operation financially sustainable.

Due to the varied factors taken into consideration for each project, I no longer post a "standard rate sheet".  In all projects minimum one-third of the total price is due upon booking, and the remaining balance is due upon delivery (i.e. completion of the project).  For a project priced $150 or above, the remaining balance may be given an extended 30-day term. There is no exception to this rule.

Payments may be made in cash, check (subject to verification with your financial institution) and most bankcards.

Substantial discounts of up to 40 percent will result if you provide your own paints (acrylic for semi-permanent, ArtWorks/ProArt poster paint for temporary project).
                                                                            Letterings-only projects are priced lower.

Generally IrisCat Art Windows focuses on smaller projects, no larger than 30 square feet in total "canvas" size. Larger-sized projects are possible, however.  The largest I have done so far is an entire used car showroom, approximately 110 feet long, in Oregon City; and a large retail store in Lake Grove, with windows approximately 50 feet long.

General price ranges for a typical art window project (subject to final estimate and approval): a door (5'x3') $45-$65; a storefront window (5'x4'): $55-$75; a large show window (5'x10'): $100-$145.  If you provide your own paint supply, multiply by 0.60 (i.e. 40% off).  If you are outside the service areas (see above) add $25 per each trip made.

Please also kindly refer to the FAQ and "Unhappy Side of Things" pages before contacting.  Thank you.
