Sarah Morrigan in #OccupyPortland
Since the first night of the Occupation in the Lownsdale and Chapman Parks in downtown Portland, Oregon, on October 6, 2011, Sarah Morrigan has been an active Occupier and advocate for the #Occupy movement. She has been interviewed and quoted by the press many times on this subject, ranging from the Portland Mercury, Willamette Week, Portland Tribune and KGW, to Salon.com. She is also the editor and writer for the Cascadian Journal of Occupology.
Sarah had occupied for the entire 39 days in the first Occupation, and for the three days (Dec. 3-5, 2011) during the Shemanski Occupation.
She has founded and continues to organize the #OccupyPortland Interfaith Guild of Chaplains, as well as being actively engaged in the General Assembly and Spokes Council. Among others, Sarah was one of the organizers of the #OccupyEastPDX action on Saturday, October 8 in the Lloyd District, as well as the main organizer of the #OccupyThanksgivingPDX, an event sponsored by the Interfaith Guild of Chaplains.
Another development arising out of the chaplaincy in #OccupyPortland is a formation of the Order of the Serene Wisdom (OSW), a truly interfaith monastic order for the #Occupy era combining the practices of traditional monastic heritage with the direct participatory collectivism of the #Occupy movement.
