It was years before laser printers became affordable. For most people, computer-generated printing meant a line-by-line dot matrix printing, not much better than an old electronic typewriter. It was simply impossible to generate large letters with an ordinary personal computer (even with a Macintosh) then.
Sarah Morrigan represents the last days when calligraphy, penmanship and hand lettering were part of schooling. She was trained in this now-mostly-lost art of lettering while in middle school where she also served as the president of the school fine arts club for a year. She is an expert in hand lettering in Western (Latin) scripts, Cyrillic alphabets, Hebrew alef-bets, and Chinese-Korean-Japanese (CJK) letters.
Lessons, both one-time basic intensives and continuing ones, are available for individuals, groups and organizations in Portland, Oregon area for a modest fee. Contact Sarah by email or by phone (503) 427-8269.
